ScanMail can be used to check several POP3 mailboxes every few minutes. It supports user-configurable rules to scan your emails and delete unwanted emails such as spam. ScanMail supports POP3 password or APOP authentication. ScanMail will show you the number of emails on each account and the size of the mailbox.

Starting ScanMail
- Run the program.
- Type in your paraphrase and type in the same characters in the confirmation box.
- Click on the Email Accounts Tab.
- Click on the "Click to Add" line to add your email account information.
- Choose the OK button after typing in the required information.
How many emails are there on each of my email accounts?
- Run the program.
- Type in your paraphrase and press the Enter key.
- Select the Inbox Tab.
- ScanMail will connect to the mail server and check each account for new mail.
How do retrieve my mail?
Use your email program to retrieve your emails. ScanMail only works as an email notifier.
How do I find out which emails were deleted?
- Select the Inbox Tab.
- Double-click on the account name.
What is the Friends Tab for?
The Friends Tab holds the email addresses of people from whom you wish to accept mail. You can configure ScanMail to accept mail based on the content of the From: line, the To: line or the Subject: line of the email. If you wish to accept mail sending directly, or Cc: to you, set the header as Recipient.
What is the Block Tab for?
The Block Tab contains the email addresses, or the subject lines of emails which are to be deleted by ScanMail. If you want to removed all emails sent by hahaha@sexyfun.net, double-click on the the last line. In the Rule window, select From as the header and type in the email address in the Contains textbox.
What are weights?
ScanMail assigns a value to each rule. The value is positive for friends and negative for block. ScanMail aggregates the weight for each rule that is matched. if the result is negative, the email is flagged as unwanted. Each email is given a value of zero before the rule match.
I lost my paraphase. Can you help me?
No. Your paraphrase will be known to you only. I suggest that you choose a sentence which you can remember as the paraphrase.
Why doesn't ScanMail delete the unwanted emails?
ScanMail has been set to work in test mode. This is to allow you to verify whether ScanMail works correctly. The release version will delete unwanted email.
